Course Description

Visio allows you to quickly and effectively communicate ideas through drawings and diagrams. In this full-day class, participants will learn the basics of the Visio drawing program to create powerful and understandable drawings such as flowcharts and organization charts.

Course Topics

  • Perform Visio Basics
  • Change the view, use zoom, pan and zoom, navigate between pages, and rename pages
  • Work with the shapes window
  • Navigate between open stencils, open additional stencils, and float stencils
  • Add shapes to a drawing
  • Select, move, resize, duplicate, search for, and delete shapes
  • Use the Size & Position window
  • Use the drawing tools to draw lines, arcs, curves, open, and closed shapes
  • Rotate, align, distribute, and group shapes
  • Create a basic flowchart
  • Use the Stamp tool, number shapes, connect shapes, and use the text tool
  • Format shapes and text, center drawing on page, and apply a color scheme
  • Create a cross-functional flowchart
  • Add, resize, move, and remove functional bands
  • Add separators, new pages, and an off-page reference shape
  • Change print setup and page setup options
  • Work with foreground and background pages
  • Add headers and footers
  • Insert graphics and fields
  • Create links and hyperlinks
  • Create an organization chart manually and using the wizard
  • Change organization chart layout, show divider lines, change the shape order, and change reporting relationships
  • Add an organization chart title, hide subordinate shapes, change position type, change text format, change shape display, and change spacing between shapes
  • Create a synchronized copy of organization chart shapes
  • Create hyperlinks between synchronized copies
  • Add custom property data to a shape and define and display new custom properties
  • Import a picture into an organization chart
